Blogs

I have been constantly challenged with new experiences since I ventured down the path of educational technology.  When I was first assigned the task of creating a blog all I could think of was, "What am I going to need a blog for?"  Well, I've discovered that it a very useful tool to use as an open forum to discuss a variety of topic.  The link below will take you to a couple of blogs I have created, including my alter ego's blog about education and technology.

Podcasts

One of the challenges of reaching learners can be as simple as geography.  Online learning has made great strides to minimize this limitation by bringing the classroom to the learner vice making the learner come to the classroom.  One tool to support this concept is the podcast.  Podcasts offer prerecorded audio or video files which can be used to present information, lectures, stories, and many other instructional programs in a web based learning platform. The link below is an example of an Ed Tech podcast.

Wikis

Collaborative learning offers learners to both come together to complete group assignments and share experiential knowledge.  Wikis prove one avenue to pursue this style of learning.  They operate under the premise of cloud technology where data is stored on an off-site server and accessible by the members of the wiki.  The links below are an example of a wikis used for collaboration.

Multi-user Virtual Enviornments (MUVE)

MUVEs, also known as Massive Multiplayer Online Games (MMOG) or Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG), are virtual enviornments which simulate the real world and real world situations.  Users navigate within the MUVE using an avatar, a virtual character, designed by the user.  MUVEs are currently being tested for viability as educational tools.  The link below is a video presentation which describes MUVEs in more depth.
